Viral: Sick Aussie man neglected by Filipina wife seeks help

MANILA, Philippines – A viral story of an Australian man supposedly neglected by his Filipina with whom he has four kids has attracted the attention of many netizens after it was shared by one concerned woman named Rose Eden Batistello on Facebook.

According to Batistello, she is helping the poor man herself by launching a donation drive on gofundme in an effort to raise money for the sick man who is right now confined at a hospital in Bacolod after suffering from heart attack.

Reading from the Batistello’s account of the man’s story, it seems that being sick is just one of the many problems of Australian Ronald Hartigan. Here is his story as narrated by Ms. Batistello:

Ronald Hartigan came to the Philippines back in 1999 to marry his Filipina wife. Just as they were about to leave for Australia, she had a change of heart and told him she’s not leaving. Out of love for her wife, he, too, decided to stay.

Eight months into their marriage, Mr. Hartigan found out his wife is into gambling and drinks a lot. He suspected she may have been into drugs, too. But the husband, devoted as he is according to the story, tried to make the marriage work for a next few years.

He bought a block of land and two units of motorcycle for his wife, but all properties were supposedly squandered without him knowing.

“He said, his wife only wants money, money all the time and that’s the only time his wife [would] be nice to him, when she wants money,” the story went on.

Their marriage bore four children, the eldest being 15 years old, but none of the kids were able to attend school properly. The oldest boy only finished Grade 2.

Apparently, the wife spent the money intended for their education for something else, just like what allegedly happened last school opening.

He gave his wife P10,000 for the kids’ enrolment, but she instead bought herself two computer tablets.

Now, Mr. Hartigan is already 76 years old; frail and also asthmatic and is desperate for help. He wants to go back to Australia and wants to bring his four children with him.

According to Ms. Batistello, he doesn’t want to leave his kids to their mother. Nor does he want to leave and just send money to support them since, knowing his wife, he knows how the things will turn out.

Batistello, who described herself as an Australian citizen, too, said she wants to help the family, especially the poor kids neglected by their Filipina mother.

The donation drive she launched on gofundme is intended to raise money for the necessary travel documents of Mr. Hartigan and the kids.

She also posted photos of a sick Mr. Hartigan lying on a hospital bed at Riverside Medical Hospital. While many people have admired Batistello for her concern and effort, still some doubted her intention and accused her of scamming.

Zeus, world’s tallest dog dies at 5

OTSEGO, Michigan— The world’s tallest  dog has died at age 5.

Zeus, a Great Dane from Michigan was reported to have died of old age.

In a report gleaned from the Inquirer, the dog’s owner Kevin Doorlag said Zeus would have been six years old in November. However, the world famous dog has succumbed to old age last week.

Zeus was 44 inches at the shoulder, 7 feet, and 4 inches or 218 centimeters on his hind legs which paved his way to earn his international fame and land the pages of the Guinness World Record’s 2012 edition as the world’s tallest living dog and the tallest dog ever.

Doorlag notes that his late pet still holds the  title up to this day since he set the world record in 2012.

Zeus weighed 165 pounds (75 kilograms) and ate a 30-pound (13.6-kilogram) bag of food every two weeks, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported.

Before his death, Zeus was a popular figure in the Kalamazoo area as he was considered a local celebrity for bringing fun and comfort as he visited local schools and hospitals where he served as a therapy dog.

Doorlag said he remembers  Zeus as a “wonderful dog.”

“We will  really miss him,” Doorlag said as he  and his wife Denise recalls their memory of Zeus who sits on their lap while the family would grill on their deck.

The joy and relief Zeus brought to other people adds to the various thoughts that will make the Doorlag family think most often of Zeus even he is not with them anymore.

Doorlag cited Zeus as definitely a great dog  as  he  said that “Those are some of the things I’ll never forget about him,” added Zeus’ owner.

CAUGHT ON VIDEO: Teen with autism victimized in disgusting ALS ice challenge prank

BAY VILLAGE, OH (WOIO) -

Ready to complete the ALS ice bucket challenge, a local teen waits to feel the shock of cold water, but what was poured on him instead has shocked the community. 

Bay Village Police are investigating a group of teens accused of playing a cruel joke on a classmate who has autism. Authorities say the victim is a 14-year-old boy.

The teens allegedly convinced the victim to do the ALS ice bucket challenge, but instead of dumping water and ice on the teen, they chose to fill the bucket with feces, urine, cigarette butts and spit.

"It shouldn't happen to any child with special needs or not," said the teen's father, David Mensen.

The teen's parents say on Tuesday night, a group of classmates invited their son to one of their houses to do the challenge, while just wearing his underwear.

"He didn't want to and they said, 'No, you have to. It's a challenge.' They had it all set up," said the teen's mother. 

The group then posted the video to Instagram. Meanwhile, the teen returned home and said nothing to his parents, until another friend brought it to their attention. 

"He was afraid to tell us what happened. He was embarrassed. He was afraid," said Mensen. 

After seeing the video, the victim's parents reported the incident to police.

On Sept. 4, Bay Village Schools released a statement to students, parents, staff and community members:

Dear Bay Village students, parents, staff and community members:

Many of our students and staff members have been participating in fundraising for ALS through the Ice Bucket Challenge. It hurts us deeply to see such a wonderful effort twisted to deliberately cause someone pain.

We are supporting our Bay Village Police Department as they vigilantly work to complete their investigation in this case.

Bay Village Police tell 19 Action News that they hope to have their investigation wrapped up in a timely manner.

So far, no charges have been filed. News of the prank traveled quickly around the tight-knit community. 

"I'm disgusted by that. Would would want to do something like that?" asked Alisha Samuels. "Expel them, definitely, 'cause that's just wrong in every sense of the word."

"It's really terrible. It's really sad. They took something that's for a good cause and took advantage of someone," Annie Carter said. 

Although their son is doing well and bravely returned to school, the parents have a message for the teens that humiliated him:

"I hope you will be punished to the full extent of the law, which still to me would not be enough, but that's what I wish," said Mensen.

School officials say no disciplinary action will be taken until after police have completed their investigation.

As a result of this incident, several community members have planned a peaceful vigil against bullying to show that hate is not tolerated in Bay Village. The event will take place off school grounds, in front of the Bay Village High School on Wolf Road on Friday, Sept. 5 at 6:15 p.m.

Why touching message in a bottle goes viral; why finder released it back to sea

Two fishermen from Francis Beach, California found a nice-looking bottle washed ashore. It looks neat, plus there seems to be an interesting piece of note inside.

Piqued by curiosity, one of the men decided to open the bottle, thinking it was from centuries ago surviving the sands of time and with some sort of ancient message.

However, when the mystery was revealed, it turned out it was just a few days old coming from a man who passed away just recently. Inside was a laminated photo dated August 17, 2014 from Moss Beach, California. The message read:

“My name is Mel, I have 3 beautiful kids and a beautiful wife of almost 54 years when I passed. I love the ocean, deep sea fishing, abalone hunting with My 2 Son’s and visiting the tide pools with the whole Family.”

“Today My Family is laying me to rest in a place that I love…..the ocean. So, this starts my journey….If you find this message in a bottle, please go to my Facebook page -Melvin’s Journey- post a pic of yourself and where you found me and send me back on my journey.”

“Thanks and God bless … Mel’s Family.”

Photos of the touching message were posted on Reddit by one of the friends of the fisherman who found the bottle. It immediately became viral online and shared by many websites.

The message was actually in memory of Melvin Stanley Clary who just died recently. A Facebook page was created for him – aptly named Melvin’s Journey.

In keeping with Melvin’s request to whoever found his message in a bottle, one named Willie (presumably one of the finders) posted a photo of the bottle on the page with the following message:

“I was fishing down by Francis Beach last Sunday afternoon when I found the message in the bottle that you guys sent out. After reading the message that was attached, I tried throwing the bottle back but it kept getting washed back up on shore due to the wind and swell. Due to my schedule as a student, I wasn’t able to throw the bottle back until today, Saturday Aug. 23rd. The bottle was released at the end of the Half Moon Bay Harbor Jetty.”

“I wish you guys the best of luck.”

Many netizen’s were touched by the message and was hoping Melvin would continue with his journey until another person finds his bottle to share his story.

His life may have ended, but his journey, according to him, has just begun.

Unbelievable transformation of a fat, dark-skinned boy to a slender, porcelain-skinned lady

BANGKOK, Thailand–The internet is taking notice of this slim transgender woman from Thailand who used to be a fat and dark-skinned boy. Visitors of her Facebook page were met by photos showing off her feminine figure such as her long flowing hair, long eye-lashes, and ample cleavage. Her Facebook page, as a matter of fact, was previously devoid of any photos revealing her old appearance until recently she shared a glimpse of her past self, which revealed an extremely huge difference between her old and new self.

As a country that relatively accepts both plastic surgery and transgender individuals, in Thailand, stories of attractive young women who started out as men has now been a common trend. Apparently, she had undergone both a sex change operation and a cosmetic surgery in order to achieve her new appearance.

The change is so dramatic that the media is scrambling to find out which clinics the woman have had her procedures done. Several Thai blogs and websites have featured her such as the YouLike page which has more than 5 million likes worldwide. The picture she uploaded showing her before and after appearance was shared and went viral on several Thai Facebook pages and groups. Her Facebook page already garnered 17,890 followers as of posting time.
